Book Club

With the start of a new school year, we’ve seen athletes kicking off seasons and getting back to the grind, but in the center of the school, our Sweetwater Bookworms are also hard at work in the library with a new year of Book Club! The Book Club is open for 7th through 12th grade students. Seventeen students have already signed up, and the list continues to grow! You can sign up for the book club on the sign-up sheet posted on the front library door.
As in past years, students can read anything they would like while participating in the Book Club, but they have to meet certain requirements to participate in the annual end of year prize. The requirements have changed from previous years. This year the students must fulfill each of these requirements:

  • Must sign up for Book Club
  • Must have 25 AR points in the first quarter
  • Must have 25 AR points in the second quarter
  • Must have 25 AR points in the third quarter
  • Must have 25 AR points in the fourth quarter
  • Must currently be in good standing with the school

Sequoyah Books

The Sequoyah Book Awards is a program in which certain books are nominated and added to a list in one of three categories: Children, Intermediate, and High School. In order to participate in the Sequoyah Book Awards, a student must read a minimum of three books in their grade level to vote on their favorite when the ballots come out in April. One book from each category will be chosen to win the award based on the cumulative votes around the state.
